The sawmill chose Inray's technology to the modernization of the log sorting. Installation of the Opmes AX1 x-ray system will take place in August and after that existing control system receives valuable quality information of pine and spruce logs. 2012-01-31 Online measurement reveals the moisture variations of the solid biofuel Etelä-Savon Energia Oy and Inray Oy have investigated benefits that can be achieved using online moisture measurement of biofuels. Two months test period has been made in Pursiala power plant where moisture content of peat and wood chips has been monitored using InrayFuel online measurement system. In addition to moisture content measurement the system has also been used to detect foreign objects, such as stones and metals. The test period showed that the moisture variation within trucks is hard to discover with traditional sample taking method and that coincidence has a big influence to the final result. Also foreign objects, like stones and metals, are often detected at the first time when they meet crushers or magnets and finally foreign objects are collected away from boiler in the annual service. Online measurement of the solid biofuel shows moisture variations, foreign objects and enables real-time control of the mass flow. In addition to this InrayFuel measurement system detects automatically fuel type and this information can be used later to study actual biofuel distribution. The test period of continues until the end of February and during that period more different type of biofuels are tested. By using Testray test tube the user can inspect that log scanners measurement results stay within allowed range. Composite test tube weighs about 22 kg so it can be moved without crane. The tube is 2.0m long and its nominal diameter is 200mm. Inside plastic cover exists artificial sapwood layer, heartwood and knots that can be seen in xray picture. We have tested Testray test tube in good success with both our own Opmes AX1 system and swedish xray apparatus. Waterproof tube is designed to last reasonable amount of impacts and winter conditions. Temperature changes does not chance inside properties of the tube.  2010-03-15 More efficiency to log sorting by simulation Success in the log sorting will improve when already scanned logs can be used in log sorting parameter tuning. Inray has developed simulator software for this purpose. The simulator can also be utilized in checking of inner quality distribution in certain sorted class if for example production plan of this class will change after real sorting.  Picture.
